Welcome to Duende, the oldest tapas bar in the Netherlands! For almost 30 years we have been combining fresh tapas, delicious wines, great atmosphere and the best music daily. A visit to Duende is so much more than just food...
In the summer we have a nice terrace and also inside we have many tables. We don't work with reservations (except for concerts and groups), so everyone is always welcome. So come by and enjoy a piece of Spain in the Jordaan!
Between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. it can be very busy, especially on weekends. Please try to come earlier or later so we can get you a table faster.
Tapas, y mucho mas!
Keeping it simple really brings out the pure and original flavors of Spanish produce. A bowl of Jamón Ibérico with a glass of wine, some tapas on the terrace or an entire meal for a large group. By combining everything is possible, plenty of choice!
Live shows
Over the past thirty years, Duende's back room has grown into a small but full-fledged theater. Classical, world music, jazz and of course lots of flamenco, but also stand-up comedy in Spanish or Storytelling are featured. You can order tickets below. During the performance you can eat and drink. In short, a great night out!

Because we want everyone to be welcome at all times, we do not work with reservations (only for groups). Upon arrival, we look for a place and if it is very crowded, you can leave your number and wait for a table either at our bar or in one of the cafes nearby. We will notify you when your table is almost ready and you can keep track of the waiting list on your phone.
If all tables are occupied, you can leave your number. We will then send you a text message when it is almost your turn. You can then wait either at our bar, or at the bar of one of the many cafes in the area and keep an eye on the waiting list on your phone yourself.
Yes! We have more than 50 different tapas, most of which consist of just a few, pure ingredients. For example, there are many vegetable tapas so that everyone, with all types of eating preferences, can find enough variety.
It is usually very busy between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., especially on weekends. If you manage to come before or after, there are usually plenty of spots available. Our kitchen is open until 11 p.m. every day.
Reservations are recommended for the shows. You then buy tickets online, where you are automatically assigned a table at the show. You can eat there. It is not possible to reserve a table in the front area as well. However, if there is room there, you can always move after the show.

Because we work without reservations, you are always welcome at Duende! If you would like to come with a larger party, please send an e-mail to reserveren@cafe-duende.nl or use the form to the right.
You willfind us in the heart of the Jordaan, behind the Noorderkerk. From Central Station it is about a 10-minute walk. There is usually ample parking on the Lindengracht.
